Performance North introduces an EVOlution in free-ride kiteboarding! The Evo can be ridden on 4 or 5 lines and bridges the gap perfectly between Vegas and Rebel, uniting new-school and free-ride in one kite. The Evo‘s delta shape offers great sheet-and-go riding, excellent wind range and high de-power. The roundish shape helps the Evo turn quickly and predictably while the new bridle geometry stabilizes the arc for a soft, consistent bar feel and extreme back-stall resistance.

The 4 line mode boasts an innovative new safety system and bar-feel perfect for those who prefer soft, easy handling. In 5 line mode the 5th Element additionally stabilizes the arc, providing very direct bar-feel for new-school riding and the ultimate 5th line safety. Auto re-launch means that you can go for it and never have to worry about re-launchng your kite…just take your hands off the bar and let the kite do the work for you! The Evo is built tough to take some thrashings and the new connection between strut and leading edge easily withstands the high loads of the delta shape.

SUP Gower is launching a monthly photo competition, giving you the chance to get your photography skills noticed and win some cool prizes too! 

Each month a new theme will be announced for the photo-comp category.  You simply enter your photo(s) according to the theme and if your picture is chosen by the judges, you win the prize – simple!  

Competition Rules & How to Enter

Each month, this blog and the Facebook group Gower SUP Club* will announce a new monthly photo-comp theme. 

1. You can enter up to 3 photos per theme.
2.  Entries should be sent to bestpicwins@googlemail.com
3.  Photos should be between 1Mb and 3mB (1200×900 pixels to 2048×1536 pixels).
4.  Each entry must have a title and location and may include an optional description.
5. Please include the category theme in your email subject line and provide your full name, address and contact number in your email.
6. The deadline for the competition will be announced accordingly for each month.
7. If you are under 16 years of age, you must obtain your parent or guardian’s permission before entering the competition.
8.  All your entries must be entirely your own original work, not defame anybody nor breach any copyright.
9. If your photograph(s) features any recognisable person or people, written permission should be obtained for the image to be entered in the competition and to be published online and in all media as required. Written permission from each recognisable person (or their parents/guardians if under 16) should be submitted for each entry.
10. By submitting your photos to bestpicwins you agree to the use of your photographs on the SUP Gower and associated websites, Facebook group and promotional material.
11. We will only ever use your personal details for the purposes of administering the competition, and will not publish them or provide them to any third party.

This month’s competition theme is SPORT IN ACTION.  So send us your best sporting action shot; whether surfing, kiteboarding, SUP boarding etc, any sport theme is eligible, and wait for the winner to be announced! 

The prize for this month’s competition is a SUP Gower hoodie (as shown in the picture). The winning shot will be published on the SUP Gower and associated websites, and on the official Facebook page.

The competition is now open and the winner will be announced at the end of the month.

 2010 EVO in 25-30knots (83 kilo )

The new 2010 Evo feels much smoother than last year although its bar pressure /sheeting force seems to have increased form the Evo 2009. The Evo 2010 definately has a better low end to high end windrange  than the 2009. Jumps are huge and floaty and the kite loops with awesome power – unhooked is where the evo 2010 kite seems to be best, sitting right in the middle of the window  and pushes your confidence in strong wind.

Its overall looks dont look particuarly ‘Delta’ shaped – but C shaped (low aspect)- it has the bar pressure and jumping ability of a ‘ C’ but with added de-power.The evo 2010 will not dissapoint Evo fans and lovers – I cant wait to try it out in 4 line mode this weekend in waves.

In the same session I also had a blast on the Vegas 2010 – what a kite ! The bar pressure funnily enough felt lighter than the Evo – steering was so direct in freeide mode I wasnt sure I had North’s premuim ‘C’ Vegas in my hands at all.

The kite looks more High aspect than before and very C shaped – a very user friendly kite – in honesty I have been riding the Evo since the diabolical Vegas 08 but now feel it may be time to re- visit the ole friend.

The hunt for the BSUPA national champions continue at Swansea, south wales on the 19th and 20th of September. SUP Gower is sponsoring the event and the distance race is being run as part of the Swansea Bae Fest.

The surf competition will, as long as the conditions are favourable, take place at Caswell Bay. This will start at 9.00am Saturday morning. We will then move at 2pm to Swansea Bay for the distance race which will be a 6km downwinder, with competitors and boards being ferried to the start line in Mumbles. The finish line is in Swansea at the Bae Fest site.

On Saturday evening the entertainment will be provided at the Bae Fest Ball at Milkwood Jam in the city centre. With a top line up of bands including The Mudskippers, Kalimist and Calico Street Riots, its set to be an awesome night!

On Sunday the surfing action will continue as we see who is going to get the points towards becoming BSUPA 2009 champions.
